Cocoa nibs are derived from crushed cocoa beans and have a rich, chocolatey and bitter flavour.
They are the least processed cocoa product and have an impressive amount of nutrients. Being unprocessed, cocoa nibs are naturally low in sugar, and are a great source of magnesium, iron, phosphorus, zinc, manganese and copper. Cocoa nibs are also packed full of antioxidants, used to fight damage caused by free radicals. Research has shown that a diet rich in flavonoid antioxidants can lead to reduced mental decline with age, and lower rates of heart disease and diabetes.
Cocoa nibs can be added into muesli or protein balls, or used to top a smoothie bowl.
